Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting LP is thrilled to collaborate with the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure’s Youth Employment Program (“YEP”) to present an exciting opportunity as a Rest Area Ranger for the upcoming 2024 summer season! This role serves as an excellent entry point for young adults eager to venture into the highway maintenance field. We are currently in search of three (3) seasonal, full-time team members to join us from May 13, 2024, until August 30, 2024.

Located in Cranbrook, B.C, this position will require individuals to work 7.78 hours per day with every second Friday off.

What you bring to the team:

  • Must have been enrolled within the last 6 months or enrolled for Fall 2024 in full-time studies in an accredited educational institution or vocational school at a post-secondary level.
  • Must possess a valid Class 7 or 5 driver’s license
  • Strong teamwork skills with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Prioritizes safety in all aspects of the job, adheres to safety protocols, and promotes a safe work environment.
  • Ability to learn and an interest in advancing your skill set.

What you’ll do:

  • Minor landscaping (mowing, weed-weed whacking, etc.)
  • Maintenance of picnic tables, benches, and external building components.
  • Litter removal.
  • Miscellaneous rest area improvements.
