An opportunity exists for a Journeyperson Certified Powerline Technician to join our dedicated team in Calgary, AB. As a Powerline Technician, you will be responsible for installing wires, streetlight poles, bases, traffic signal poles, and wood poles for temporary lighting and temporary traffic signals.

Raylec Power (Alberta) LP has been a trusted provider of roadway electrical construction, repair, and maintenance services in Central and Southern Alberta since 2013. We specialize in maintaining highway electrical assets for Transportation and Economic Corridors, County, and City infrastructure. Our key projects include the Southeast Stoney Trail and Transportation and Economic Corridors Contract Maintenance Area 516, where we manage thousands of luminaires and numerous signalized intersections. Equipped with a modern fleet of specialized equipment, we ensure efficient and reliable service delivery for all highway electrical asset needs.

What you bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract. (Class 3 Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement would be an asset).
  • Valid Powerline Technician Journeyperson Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with street lighting and/or traffic signal installation.
  • IMSA traffic signal technician training or certificate is considered an asset
  • Experience with streetlighting installation and controls is an asset
  • Experience with traffic signal installation and controls is an asset
  • Experience with radial boom derrick (RBD)/digger derrick and other heavy equipment (preferred).
  • Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification (preferred).
  • Occupational First Aid (OFA) levels I, II and/or III (preferred).
  • Fall protection certification (preferred).
  • Strong commitment to safety, customer service, and quality work.
  • Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Capable of performing physical labour.
  • Positive, team orientated attitude.
  • Ability to work on-call including evenings and weekends as required.

This role involves a range of job duties, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Install wires, streetlight poles, bases, traffic signal poles, and wood poles for temporary lighting and temporary traffic signals.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Work with high-voltage electrical systems, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Operate radial boom derrick (RBD)/digger derrick and other heavy equipment as required.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
