An exciting opportunity exists at Mainroad Chinook Contracting LP for a Paint Truck Operator and Line Painters (White Gunner and Yellow Gunner) to join our team! This is a summer position based out of our yard in Rocky View County, Alberta and will report to the Paint Foreman or Road Manager.
Mainroad Chinook Contracting LP is contracted by Chinook Highway Operations Inc. – a partnership between SNC-Lavalin Operations & Maintenance Inc. and Acciona Concessions Canada (2008) Inc. Mainroad Chinook takes pride in providing a variety of services such as road repair, snow removal and lighting maintenance for the Southeast Stoney Trail. The Southeast Stoney Trail Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between the Alberta Government and Chinook Roads Partnership and is one of the largest single P3 highway infrastructure projects in Alberta’s history.

The successful candidate shall have the following qualifications:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required.
- Line Painter Applicants: Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
- Paint Truck Operator Applicants: Class 3 Driver’s License with an airbrake endorsement.
- At least two (2) years of general labour experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in long line/striper pavement painting using a tandem axle line striper.
- Previous experience in the highway maintenance or construction industry is preferred.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Training is preferred.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on paint trucks.
- Willing and able to work night shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Strong safety awareness with a commitment to learning and practicing safe work habits.
- Ability to actively contribute to overall worksite safety.
- Proficient with computer systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings (preferred).
- High learning agility and adaptability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment.
- Physically capable of performing heavy labour.
Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Re-stripe existing line markings and apply new line markings on both new and existing projects.
- Perform tasks related to Highway Maintenance Contracts as well as projects outside of these contracts.
- Safely handle and manage materials, including paint and glass traffic spheres.
- Complete hazard assessments and incident reports accurately and within required timeframes.
- Complete all mandatory training as required.
- Adhere to company safety policies as outlined in the Company Manual.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned to support project and operational needs.
