Mainroad Alberta Contracting LP is offering an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our quality team as a Quality Assistant. This full-time, salaried position is a 6-month contract located in Red Deer, AB, and reports directly to the Corporate Quality Manager.

Who we are:

Mainroad Alberta Contracting was awarded two highway maintenance contracts by the Government of Alberta Transportation in August 2019. The maintenance contract oversees 4,600 kilometres of provincial highways surrounding and within the counties of Lacombe, Ponoka, Red Deer and Wetaskiwin known as Alberta Transportation Contract Maintenance Areas 515 and 516. Mainroad Alberta Contracting has operations yards in Winfield, Ponoka, Red Deer and Innisfail. What you bring:

  •  Educational Background: High School Diploma required; Post-Secondary Certificate or Diploma preferred. A combination of relevant knowledge, skills, and experience will also be considered.
  • Certifications: ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Certificate is an asset.
  • Experience: Prior experience in quality control, ideally within highway maintenance, construction, or a related industry is preferred. Field audit experience is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong data entry, formatting, and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential.
  • Contract Interpretation: Ability to effectively interpret and apply written contracts.
  • Licensing: Must hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Core Skills: Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and administrative abilities. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Learning Mindset: A demonstrated ability to learn quickly and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Adaptability: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Customer Focus: A strong client-oriented approach.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to drive and work in challenging weather conditions, and availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, as required.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in the construction industry is preferred.

 This role involves a range of job duties, which include, but are not limited to:

  •  Quality Management Support: Assist the Corporate Quality Manager with the implementation and maintenance of the Company Quality Management Program.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and report on the Company’s adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Corporate Compliance Team and other departments to ensure alignment and compliance.
  • Training & Development: Help prepare and deliver staff presentations and training sessions.
  • Field Audits: Conduct audits in various weather conditions, ensuring compliance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Data Management: Perform data entry, formatting, analysis, and electronic filing in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Reporting: Help prepare reports for Transportation and Economic Corridors.
  • Vehicle & Safety Inspections: Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Meeting Documentation: Record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Operational Liaison: Maintain effective communication with the Operations teams and other departments to support seamless operations.
