Due to an upcoming retirement, an exciting career opportunity exists at Cobra Electric Services for a Trade Journeyman (TJM) Mechanic. The TJ Mechanic will be tasked with repairing and maintaining company vehicles and equipment among other duties. This position will be based out of Cobra’s shop/yard in Port Kells, BC.

Cobra Electric Services is a full-service traffic management and lighting systems company providing maintenance services to public and private sectors in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia for nearly 40 years. Core service deliveries include street lighting, traffic and intersection electrical maintenance for both on call and annual contract customers.

What you bring:

  • A minimum of 3 (three) years’ experience as B.C. Certificate of Qualification, and/or Interprovincial Ticket as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic, Commercial Transport, or Truck & Transport Mechanic is required.
  • A valid class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement is required.
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certification is an asset.
  • A Canadian Utility Fleet Council Training Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Welding experience is an asset.
  • Team player mentality and a positive attitude.
  • An ability to performing heavy physical duties.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • A safety conscious approach.
  • Dedication and commitment.
  • Experience with Bucket Trucks and Folding Boom Cranes is required.
  • Experience with CVIP, NDT and Annual Inspection requirements.
  • Knowledge of the National Safety Code (NSC) regulations is an asset.
  • Skills with computer diagnostic programs and online garage management programs.

This role involves a range of job duties, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing various repairs to fleet equipment including bucket truck and folding boom cranes, cargo trailers, pickups, mobile air compressors and forklifts.
  • Documentation of all maintenance and repairs with an online work order system.
  • Manage & perform maintenance and repair work in-house and through outside vendors.
  • Managing Commercial Vehicle Inspections, Non-Destructive Testing and Annual Inspections and repairs to meet OEM and regulatory requirements of CVSE, National Safety Code, and WorkSafe BC is a priority for this fleet.
  • Work with managers and foreman to schedule fleet vehicles in for maintenance, repairs, and trip inspections.
  • Order parts when required.
